PUBLIC CONSULTATION oN WAGES - HELD iN BORACAY bY tHE REGIONAL TRIPARTITE WAGES & PRODUCTIVITY BOARD oF DOLE

The wages for workers in the island of Boracay and the province of Aklan was discussed on Friday, June 28.

The Public Consultation on Wages was held by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) VI of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at a resort in Boracay.

Employees and management groups from different hotels and establishment in Boracay and the province of Aklan attended.

Attendees were divided into two (2) groups: the employee and management groups. The groups had their own speakers and had the chance to present their points, and the points presented were then discussed.

Meanwhile, according to RTWPB VI Director Ponciano Ligutom, if employees would really like to have salary increase at their workplace, the employees should think thoroughly about the exact amount to be added if ever a salary increase is approved.

On the other hand, according to a member of the RTWPB, the consultation on wage issues that was held will still be talked about at the Board of Hearing of Region 6 since it is a sensitive matter and sufficient basis is needed on why wage should be increased especially in Boracay Island.
