New AKELCO Head assumed office

Engineer Rogen Delos Reyes, assumed office and started his duty as the new Head of Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO).

This was after the retirement of Engr. Chito Peralta this month of June after his more than six years of service as AKELCO’s General Manager.

According to AKELCO PIO Rence Oczon, Delos Reyes took office last Monday as the Head Management Committee assigned by the AKELCO Board of Directors.

Oczon said that AKELCO doesn’t have a General Manager for now because they are still waiting for the decision of National Electrification Administration (NEA).

She added that it is possible that Engr. Rogen Delos Reyes will be the General Manager of AKELCO these incoming days.

Meanwhile, Delos Reyes attended the Annual General Assembly (AGMA) to hear the grievance of consumers about the cooperative’s services.

For now, Rence added that Delos Reyes first will be handling all functions of AKELCO until the new general manager will be determined.

DOT Boracay, also defining the status of the flood control project in Boracay

Department of Tourism (DOT) Boracay also try to find out the status of Flood Control Project in the island.

According to DOT Boracay Officer in Charge Tim Ticar, he went into the Tourism Infrastructure Enterprise and Zoning Authority-Regulatory Office (TIEZA-RO) yesterday but said nothing can be spoken about his inquiry.

“Now, that PAGASA formally declared “Rainy Season,” it is necessary to know if what the preparations in the island especially concerning floods.” He said.

Ticar added that, “The previous disaster illustrates that the level of preparedness and ability to save lives in the wake of such events is not as high as was thought.”

Meanwhile, this station has also tried to re-interview ITP Construction Project Architect Victor Turingan but he cannot be contacted on his cell phone.

Furthermore, it was noted that excavation of the road going to the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) of the Boracay Island Water Company (BIWC) has been started for pipe laying.

This is still a part of Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA)’s Flood Control Project.

The Flood Control Project began last year to finally put a stop on the island’s flooding problems.

BIHA ok's 200 meter sit back for the boat in Bolabog beach

BIHA is ok with the 200 meter sit back for boat in Bolabog Beach.

According to BIHA or Boracay Island Hopping Association Chairman Rigoberto Gelito Jr., there is no problem for them for the said sit back which aims to protect the sea grass in Bolabog Beach as part of Boracay Redevelopment.

On the other side of Bolabog Beach is a 200-meter area for all visitors and tourist who wants to go boating or island hopping.

According to chairman Rigoberto, they are hoping for the consideration for operation hours of their boats and visitors.

Meanwhile, aside from sit back, chairman Regoberto said that they support the other redevelopment program of LGU Malay for the island of Boracay.

It is said laid by Life Guard Supervisor Mike Labatiao in Assembly Meeting of BFI or Boracay Foundation Incorporated this last Saturday the accomplishment report related on the sit back.

SB Malay approves availability of Technical and Vocational School in the municipality

Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Malay approves the availability of Technical and Vocational School in the municipality.

This was after the discussion through Malay SB Session this Tuesday subsequent to resolution led by Vice Mayor Wilbec Gelito.

It was noted that the training center will be constructed in Balusbos, Malay, Aklan as a venue of Technical Vocational School in the municipality.

There was also a resolution passed by SB Malay recognizing the Housekeeping NC II and Food and Beverages NC II as initial courses / program of such school to offer.

“We’re developing lifelong learners with critical and technical skills.” Malay SB Members said.

The schools also aim to provide adequate skills for youth vocational activities especially that the island of Boracay requires such skills.

Meanwhile, LGU Malay now works together with other agencies for the immediate construction of said vocational school.

SB Malay, subjects to Evaluation on June 10

Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Malay undergoes evaluation on June 10, 2014.

This was SB Malay Sec. Concordia Alcatara confirmed after the conduct of its Session on Tuesday.

“A group of Regional Team evaluates the session of councilors which all of them be required to be present as well.” She said.

At the same time, the council continuously conducts it sessions in order to discuss pending litigation.

Meanwhile, two other towns in Aklan are expected to be evaluating which includes the council from the town of Kalibo.

The said evaluation has to start at eight o'clock in the morning until four o’clock in the afternoon.
