The Sanitation problem in Malay Public Market in Barangay Caticlan is gradually given a solution.

This was after that some consumers in the said market expressed their disappointment to the Local Government Unit of Malay about the sanitation and cleanliness of the marketplace.

Aside from monitoring made by ​​the LGU and Brgy. Captain Julieta Aron to the sanitation, defective portions of the public market were already fixed by the engineering office.

Malay Sanitation Inspector Ma. Lyn Fernandez however said that they do not issue permit to the vendors when they fail the requirements including the cleanliness of the place.

Meanwhile, the waste in the said market is regularly collected and proper cork for vegetable waste, slops of fish had been provided.

Resolution for the entry-exit of boat trips in Boracay during Habagat set for committee hearing

The resolution for entry-exit of boat trips during Habagat in the island of Boracay is scheduled for a committee hearing.

This was confirmed by SB Member and Chairman of the Committee on Laws Rowen Aguirre during the SB session on Tuesday.

However, it was noted that upon implementation of the resolution, the weather forecast of PAGASA is still vital for the transfer of boat the trips to Tabon and Tambisaan Port.

Meanwhile, Aguirre added that the two ports should be addressing the boat traffic that cause slow operation.

Crowded terminal area in Tambisaan Port and lack of facilities should also be considered.

Despite of this the LGU Malay is favor for this resolution to avoid the confusion of passengers where the boat trips during Habagat.

Complete funds for the configuration of the circumferential road in Boracay, taking to SP Aklan

Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Aklan now discussed the appropriate funds for the configuration of the circumferential road in Boracay.

During the 27^th SP Regular Session, SP Member Esel Flores passed a resolution requesting the Congressman Teodorico Haresco to facilitate the complete funding requirements for the asphalt overlaying of the Boracay circumferential road and other arterial roads to include the elevation of the cross drainages and sewerage manholes located along the roadways.

According to Flores, it is also a part of preparation for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit to be held next year and continuing influx of local and foreign tourists who visit the island.

Youth leaders in Malay and Boracay to attend Red Cross Youth Assembly this coming September

Philippine Red Cross Boracay-Malay Chapter or PRC is training youth leaders in interconnectedness of individuals, helping others and learning significant things.

With this, PRC will be holding a Red Cross Youth Assembly this coming September 6 in the island of Boracay that will be attended by some 450 youth leaders.

It is composed of students from public and private schools in the town of Malay and the island of Boracay.

The purpose of this assembly that will be held in Manoc-Manoc Boracay covered court is to enlighten the teens of the importance of being a youth volunteer.

Some organizations also in the island are expected to attend with the LGU Malay led by Malay Mayor John Yap. 

35 women who are victims of human trafficking in Boracay, turned over to social workers of DSWD

35 women who are victims of human trafficking in Boracay are now under the custody of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

This was confirmed by the Boracay PNP Station, where three bar owners are facing violations of Republic Act No.  9208 or otherwise known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law of 2003, for allegedly recruiting 35 women for prostitution.

The operations were conducted in three separate operations by the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) and the Aklan Police Provincial Office in coordination with the members of Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office last Thursday evening in three videoke bars in the barangays of Manoc-Manoc and Yapak for alleged human trafficking violations.

“The young women, who came from the provinces of Mindanao and Visayas, are involved in one place to another or moved in various places in the country.” BTAC said.

Meanwhile, this station also tried to get a statement from Aklan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, but refused to speak it beforehand.
