Aklan
Governor Florencio “Joeben” Miraflores led the home-free Pamilyang Pilipino
Laban sa TB (LPP-TB) program in the province of Aklan.
Together
with Miraflores are the entire municipal mayors in the province where
they signed the pledge of support which was wrapped up during the provincial
local chief executives dialogue as regards to tuberculosis (TB) this Friday.
It
is being said that there were 20 rural
health units, three hospitals and clinics in the province that are accredited
and certified by DOST facilities.
However,
it was also noted that there were 91 percent of tuberculosis cure rate last
year which has increased 77 percent in 2010.
On
the other hand, in
connection with such agreement, the provincial government will provide
financial support to strengthen the TB Service Delivery Mechanism, as well as
to strengthen public-private partnerships and multi- sector to be able to control
the increase of TB cases in Aklan.
It
is also expected that the government will have a different plan the same as
putting a Multi-Drug Resistant TB Satellite Treatment Center at Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital.
The
collaboration of the Department of Health, Provincial Government has seen the
TB Diagnostic Treatment and Information Services as a big help to the
community.
