It is the
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)’s priority to look into the Service
Charge of employees in Boracay.
According
to DOLE Aklan Provincial Director Bediolo Salvacion, they have been receiving
complaints regarding the monthly service charge.
The usual
dilemma is that the employees are not receiving the intended rate which causes
a conflict between them and their employers.
Meanwhile,
Salvacion clarified that it depends if the establishment or company is
incurring the said charge, if not, the employees will at the same time receive
nothing.
Salvacion
however added that a penalty awaits business establishments that cannot provide
proof of their income from service charges which also is the basis of how much
will go the employees.
