BFP’s "Oplan Undas” in Boracay and Malay, all geared up

Written by Gloria Villas

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Boracay and Malay are all geared up for “Oplan Undas,” a move wherein the bureau beefs up especially for the celebration of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.

According to Boracay Fire Insp. Joseph Cadag, after receiving an order last October 23, they have been focusing and are preparing for the coming days particularly on October 31 to November 4.

In line with this, the Fire Bureau posted emergency medical service personnel on each cemetery, and the fire trucks will also go about the streets for their “Oplan Paalala.”

This is to remind the public to be watchful enough such as to mind the candles used at the cemeteries and to check their switch, LPGs and other electrical appliances, before leaving the house to avoid fire incidents.

These things are usually taken for granted, Cadag said.

Meanwhile the Boracay Fire Officer said that many have already started visiting the cemeteries, and so they are also doubling up their preparation for the occasion.
