Coral Reef Refurbishment can help avoid beach erosion in Boracay

Written by Gloria Villas

Coral Reef Refurbishment can highly contribute in the avoidance of beach erosion in the island of Boracay.

This is what Project Officer and Marine Biologist Al Lumagod of the Boracay Beach Management or BBMP has said.

According to Lumagod the said project, which aims to increase coral reproduction, has long been planned and is now ready for implementation.

The Marine Biologist explained that the greater number of corals can also help protect the sands dueing “habagat” season.

He meanwhile reminded the public, including the tourists, to take care of Boracay’s natural riches especially that the influx of people grows along with the also increasing number of activities in the island.

The Coral Reef Refurbishment Project is part of the project of the Coastal Resource Management Program and is under the Boracay Beach Management Program.
