Electricity rates this February, lowered down

Written by Gloria Villas

Good news to all AKELCO consumers.

This is as the cutting down of Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO) electricity rates pushes through this February.

Based on the notice released by AKELCO, the rate for residential consumers has decreased to more than 1 peso.

In January the charge was Php12.76/kwh for residential, but for this February this will only be Php10.8/kwh.

Meanwhile for commercial consumers, there will be a 2 peso decrease, that instead of Php11.93 it lowers down to Php9.89/kwh.

According to AKLECO, the price drop only followed the drop in generation charges after the NGCP 69KV transmission lines destroyed during Yolanda was fixed.

The cooperative however reminded the public of another possible rise or fall of electricity rates depending on the demand, generation charges and system loss.

In line with this AKLECO still advises the public to be wise in using electricity.
