Sangguniang
Panlalawigan (SP) Aklan invites provincial administrator Atty. Selwyn Ibarreta
to give the latest information about the current status of the project at
Kalibo International Airport (KIA).
During
the 28th SP Regular Session, councils talked about the said
invitation requesting Atty. Ibarreta to give information through audio-visual
presentation on the developments on the upgrading of the facilities of the KIA,
and to include the timetable for the completion of all upgrading projects and
land acquisition.
This
is also next to a submitted Resolution No. 147, which ratifies to purchase a land
to be used for KIA expansion.
The
said resolution was approved during the 23rd regular session of the Sangguniang
Panlalawigan.
The
acquisition of lots is intended for the KIA’s passenger terminal complex,
vehicular parking area and access road.
Upgrading
to international standards and improvement of the Kalibo International Airport
has been included among the priority projects of the national government.
KIA
accommodates international flights to and from the regional capitals and cities
in Asia.
Soon,
it will become the hub airport of Air Asia.
