Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Aklan invites provincial administrator Atty. Selwyn Ibarreta to give the latest information about the current status of the project at Kalibo International Airport (KIA).

During the 28th SP Regular Session, councils talked about the said invitation requesting Atty. Ibarreta to give information through audio-visual presentation on the developments on the upgrading of the facilities of the KIA, and to include the timetable for the completion of all upgrading projects and land acquisition.

This is also next to a submitted Resolution No. 147, which ratifies to purchase a land to be used for KIA expansion.

The said resolution was approved during the 23rd regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The acquisition of lots is intended for the KIA’s passenger terminal complex, vehicular parking area and access road.

Upgrading to international standards and improvement of the Kalibo International Airport has been included among the priority projects of the national government.

KIA accommodates international flights to and from the regional capitals and cities in Asia.

Soon, it will become the hub airport of Air Asia.
