The
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) encourages the public to
take part in the Earth Hour celebration this year.
According
to DENR Aklan Administrative Officer IV Merlita Ninang, the Earth Hour aims to
instill awareness about the serious problem on climate change and the
continuous drive to protect the environment.
The Earth
Hour will also be celebrated in different countries around the globe on March
29, a Saturday.
The
initiative is to turn the lights off for an hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30pm in
Philippine time.
The
celebration is not only about turning off the lights, bust as well as the
gadgets like cell phones and other household utilities that require electrical
energy.
