Festival of the Winds, kicks off today


The island of Boracay is once again celebrating the Festival of the Winds spearheaded by the Philippine National Red Cross Boracay-Malay Chapter.

On this occasion, the lifeguards are going to showcase their skills during the Life Guard Competition which will be held at the front beach at a certain resort in station 2.

According to Janna Marasigan of PNRC-Boracay, the said competition is the highlights of the Festival of the Winds.

The opening ceremony was conducted at 8:00am early this morning and was attended by PNRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang who is supportive of the activity.

Marasigan added that the participant does not only include PNRC-Boracay, but as well as the delegates from around the country such as Cavite, Davao, Cebu, and  Zambales among others.

Aside from the life guard competition, a paraw regatta contest will also be conducted today, where there are 8 to 10 expected participants.
