Malay MDRRMC, to be called for in relation to disaster preparedness

Written by Alan Palma

“Are we ready for any disaster such as earthquakes?”

This is what SB Member Rowen Aguirre asked his colleagues in relation to disaster preparedness matters.

The SB Member wanted to know the structure and composition of the MDRRMC in Malay to identify what action should be done to ensure the safety particularly in the island of Boracay.

According to Aguirre, calamities such as earthquakes should not be taken for granted, more so that the safety of the tourists are in line.

Exercises like earthquake drills, alongside the protocols and set-up of the rescuers must be prepared in case disasters would strike.

It also a must he said to know what and if materials and or facilities are available, and who is to be assigned to take over the management of the situation.

In line with this, the MDRRMC-Malay will be called upon for a meeting this week.

In the previous weeks, a powerful quake shook Central Visayas which left home and properties destroyed and cost more than 180 lives.
