LTO, trains police and traffic enforcers in using breathalyzer machines

Written by Jay-ar M. Arante

The land Transportation office (LTO) trained police and traffic enforcers in Region VI on how to use a breathalyzer machine.

This is in line with the republic act signed by President Benigno Aquino III last May 27, which is an Act Penalizing Persons Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Dangerous Drugs, and Other Similar Substances.

According to LTO Regional Director Dennis Singson during his visit in Bacolod City, its implementation has already started on September 21.

Under the training, Singson said, that police and traffic enforcers are being taught on the proper use of gadgets such as the breathalyzer machine and how to conduct a sobriety test.

The enforcers are also being taught on how to identify the legal Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) ceiling.

The BAC is the ratio of alcohol in the blood measure d by the breathalyzer.

Meanwhile, LTO Aklan considers this as good news as it would greatly help in lowering the number of accidents caused by alcohol intoxication.
