A bid to host the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
2015 Summit was presented by Boracay to the APEC Secretariat on May 27, 2013.
According to Malay Municipal Tourism Officer, Felix De Los
Santos, he, in behalf of Malay Mayor, John Yap, together with Cesar Rodriguez
from the Office of Congressman Miraflores, Chairman of the House of
Representatives, Committee on Tourism, Alma Belejerdo, the Municipal Planning
& Development Officer, and Mellissa Ledesma, Director of Sales &
Marketing of Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, went to AIM Conference Center
Manila to present Boracay’s bid in hosting the 2015 APEC Summit which is to be
held in the Philippines.
It was learned during the interview with De Los Santos on
Thursday, June 6, that there were nine (9) bidders who proposed to host the 2015
APEC Summit.
He further added that the result of the bidding will be
known in the next few weeks.
